This Grade 1 Listed Tudor cottage in Abbey Street, Cerne Abbas, is one of a terrace of houses known collectively as “The Pitchmarket”. They date from the early 16th century, and get their name from the market once held in the street, where millers “pitched” for corn. It was reputedly once owned by Thomas Washington, uncle of George Washington the first president of the United States.
