The remote village which was today "renamed" in a symbolic gesture by residents opposed to plans for a nearby wind farm. The protest group put up a new name sign at the entrance to Llanfynydd, in south-west Wales, claiming it is called Llanhyfryddawelllehynafolybarcudprindanfygythiadtrienusyrhafnauole. The move saw the Carmarthenshire community temporarily eclipse Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwchllantysiliogogogoch in North Wales, which currently holds the title for having the longest name in Britain.
