The Union Pacific train 'City of Los Angeles', 1956. Vintage postcard. The 'City of Los Angeles' operated between Chicago and Los Angeles from 1937 onwards. It was Union Pacific's flagship service, and was a direct competitor with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway's 'Super Chief'. Hollywood actor Ronald Reagan was a frequent traveller on the 'City of Los Angeles', and appeared in an advertisement for the train in the National Geographic magazine.
