A limerick about a man with a flute - written and illustrated by Victorian author and artist Edward Lear. Taken from the "Book of Nonsense by Edward Lear" published in 1875. The text reads: There was an Old Man with a flute, - a "sarpint" ran into his boot! But he played day and night, till the "sarpint" took flight, And avoided that man with a flute.
