Forth Road Bridge is a road bridge with pedestrian walkways on both sides. It spans the wide Firth of Forth (the mouth of the Forth River) north of Edinburgh. It is one of the world’s early long span suspension bridges. Main span covers 1006 metres between two tall towers. When opened in 1964, it was the fourth longest in the world and the longest outside the USA. It is over 2.5 km long and built of 39, 000 tonnes of steel and 125, 000 cubic metres of concrete.
