Vintage composite photo circa 1914 of Canadian-born film actress Mary Pickford (1892 - 1979) featuring two portrait images side by side. Pickford, born Gladys Marie Smith, was known as "America's Sweetheart", "Little Mary" and "The girl with the curls". She was one of the most famous women in the world in the 1910s and 1920s and won the best actress Oscar in 1929 for the film Coquette. Pickford famously married actor, screenwriter, director and producer Douglas Fairbanks Sr (1883 - 1939) in 1920 (he was her second husband), a marriage that lasted until 1936, and the pair were both founding members of film studio United Artists (1919) and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (1927).
