This juvenile female sea otter was found stranded on the beach. A volunteer rescuer is discussing her symptoms with a veterinarian over a cell phone and preparing to transport her to veterinary care at the Marine Mammal Center. The otter was later diagnosed with Acanthocephalan peritonitis, an abdominal cavity inflammation caused by a parasitic infection.
