Kyoto, Japan. 1st September, 2013. Wrestlers and babies take part in a sumo event at Matsuo Taisha Shrine in Kyoto, Japan, as part of an annual festival (called Hassaku-sai) wishing for good weather, a decent harvest and a peaceful life. It also includes a procession and traditional dance. The wrestler carries a baby into the sumo ring, performs several sumo moves and then places the baby in the centre of the ring. The ritual is said to bring the baby good luck and ensure its good health. © Trevor Mogg / Alamy Live News
