Nathaniel or Nathan Field (1587-1620) was an English dramatist and actor. He didn't intend a career in the theatre, but at some point before 1600, he was impressed by Nathaniel Giles, the master of Elizabeth's choir and one of the managers of the new troupe of boy players at Blackfriars Theatre, called alternately the Children of the Chapel Royal and the Blackfriars Children. He remained in this profession for the remainder of his life, later adding to it the profession of a playwright. John Field was buried on 26 March 1588. Heriot's Hospital, (then the name for this kind of charitable school) to care for the 'puir, faitherless bairns was founded by George “Jinglin' Geordie” Heriot in 1624, Edinburgh, Scotland. It was completed just in time to be occupied by Oliver Cromwell's English forces during the invasion of Scotland during the Third English Civil War; the building was used as a barracks, with horses stabled in the chapel. The hospital opened in 1659, with thirty sickly children in residence; its finances grew, and it took in other pupils in addition to the orphans for whom it was intended. King Henry II commissioned the old stone London Bridge with a chapel at its centre dedicated to Becket as martyr that became the official start of pilgrimage to Becket's Canterbury shrine. The bridge was about 800–900 feet long, with a drawbridge to allow for the passage of tall ships, and defensive gatehouses at both ends. By 1358 it had 138 shops, that increased the load on its arches, several of which had to be rebuilt over the centuries. This view from around 1616 was made before a major fire in 1633 destroyed the northern third of the bridge. The Palace of Whitehall (or Palace of White Hall) in Westminster, Middlesex, was the main residence of the English monarchs from 1530 until 1698. Edward 'Ned' Alleyn (1566-1626) was an English actor who was a major figure of the Elizabethan theatre and founder of Dulwich College and Alleyn's School and rated by common consent as the foremost actor of his time; his only close rival was Richard Burbage. Alleyn retired at the height of his fame around 1598, and it is said that Queen Elizabeth requested his return to the stage, which he did in 1604, the year after her death. Alleyn died in November 1626 and was buried in the chapel of the college which he had founded.
