Towards the end of Queen Elizabeth I's reign she often resided in Nonsuch House on London Bridge. Commissioned by her father, King Henry VIII, it constructed in the Netherlands, taken apart and shipped to London in pieces in 1578, where it was reassembled without carpenter's nails or mason's mortar,, just wooden pegs. The bridge bore houses and shops along its length and Nonsuch House was a notable feature from the sixteenth century until it was torn down in the eighteenth century. The Cabochien revolt was an episode in the civil war between the Armagnacs and the Burgundians in the spring of 1413. John the Fearless, duke of Burgundy aligned himself with the butchers named “Cabochiens”. Riotous mobs, assaulted Armagnac noblemen, followers and their properties and controlled Paris for four months. However, the acvtions of Cabochiens and Burgundians created dissatisfaction among the population who began to rise against them.
