Tailor, inventor and parachuting pioneer, ( the Flying Tailor ) who is remembered for jumping to his death from the Eiffel Tower while testing a wearable parachute of his own design. The parachute failed to deploy and he plummeted 57 metres (187 ft) to his death. At a recent ceremony on the Schmerling Platz, Vienna, the first battalion of the royal warwickshire regiment changed the guard with a French regiment. The antelope mascot of the Warwickshire regiment was much in evidence and performed his part well.
