A depth charge raises a geyser off the stern of a Coast Guard-manned frigate in the last battle of the Atlantic off point Judith, Rhode Island, on Sunday, May 6. Teaming with three Navy vessels, the Coast Guard-manner USS MOBERLY attacks a U-boat which a few hours earlier had torpedoed an American collier with the loss of four lives. Sound contact was made with the sub by the USS ATHERTON, and patterns of depth charges were planted by all ships of the group until wreckage of the marauder boiled to the surface.
