The carnival was the first in the UK, in 1967, to incorporate all three essential elements of authentic West Indian carnival – costumes, music and a masquerade procession – it is Europe’s longest running Caribbean carnival parade. The event incorporates a colourful procession through the streets, a live music stage and street food and is geared towards all ages and cultures.
