Mr. Parkes left the guardroom at the Army's Blackdown Camp in Surrey, where he had been held since his arrest six days before in Stoke-on-Trent on the Army's charge that he was a deserter under a nine-year engagement. Mr. Parkes left the guardroom at the Army's Blackdown Camp in Surrey, where he had been held since his arrest six days before in Stoke-on-Trent on the Army's charge that he was a deserter under a nine-year engagement.
