New Oil Burner. First two of the 20 oil burning Baldwin freight locomotives will be unloaded this week. Of 152 tons, they are similar to those built during the last war for service in Europe. They have an axle load of 16 tons, which will enable them to be used on tracks not up to mainline standard. They will be in the first tender engines with the Mikado (or 2-8-2) wheel arrangement to run on the NSW railways. August 18, 1952.
