Berlin, Germany. 12th June, 2020. Numerous fire bugs (Pyrrhocoridae) on a stone. These are adult animals and their offspring, the so-called nymphs. The nymphs have a predominantly red-coloured abdomen on which there are several small black spots only along the back. They feed on plant sap, which they suck, among other things, from fallen seeds from trees and other plants. They communicate with each other by means of scents which are sprayed by the stink glands.
