Fitzwilliam Main, Colliery in West Yorshire in the winter of 1985 during the miners strike. 1985 scan made in 2018. Photograph shows a coal gleaning miner carrying a sack of gleaned coal home during the 1984-85 NUM strike. It was built as a pit village. It has a railway station on the Wakefield Line, providing it with connections to Leeds, Wakefield, Doncaster and Sheffield. The railway station closed in 1967, reopened in 1982 and the line was electrified in 1989.
