The first German Instrument of Surrender that ended World War II in Europe was signed in this building, that served as the SHAEF headquarters, at 02:41 Central European Time (CET) on 7 May 1945. The Museum of the Surrender (Musée de la Reddition) is located in the building that serves now as the Lycée Franklin Roosevelt. The building was designed by French architect Hippolyte Portevin (1927). The entrance to the museum is seen in the background. The Chateau at Euvezin served as a German headquarters during World War One. At the time this drawing was made, it was being used as the headquarters for the 26th Division. RM2RCG0JK–The Chateau at Euvezin served as a German headquarters during World War One. At the time this drawing was made, it was being used as the headquarters for the 26th Division. The drawing was done by Captain Ernest Peixotte and received on September 16, 1918. The chateau was later taken by American forces.
