Due to recent heavy rains in the Midwest, Gurnee, Ill., officials are anticipating the Des Plaines River will crest above flood stage. More than 300 Sailors attached to Naval Station Great Lakes volunteered to fill sandbags to prevent flood waters from damaging businesses and residences in the downtown area.
