A plaque inscription in Arabic which reads “We will do and build like they built and did - 1929, Supreme Muslim Council,” a reference to those who built the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount remains on the facade of Waldorf Astoria Hotel in West Jerusalem Israel. The building which was called Palace hotel, was commissioned in 1929 by Jerusalem’s Grand Mufti Hajj Amin-El Husseini, and was meant to be part of a Muslim university complex which was then the division line between Muslims and Jews in Jerusalem.
