Television in the 1930s. A worker at GEC ( General Electric Company of Great Britain ) is testing the main television component, the cathode ray tube in the company's laboratories at Wembley. Much of the work on television at Wembley concentrated on the design of domestic receivers and the use of cathode ray tubes for use in these receivers. This intention was never realised because of the outbreak of the Second world war. All work on television was terminated, not to be re-started until the end of the war was in sight.
