Indiana Solon holds record. Washington, D.C. Aug. 31. What is believed to be a record for staying on the job is held by Rep. Louis Ludlow, Democrat of Indiana. A member of Congress since 1929, Ludlow has never gone back to his state during recesses but has remained on the job at the capitol.
