1960s, historical, exterior of the airport building at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Originally known as the Dhahran Aifield when it was built in 1961 by the United States, it was the first Saudi Arabian airport to be constructed and was shared with the Royal Saudi Air Force, before being converted later for commerical use. The Dhahran International Airport became a busy passenger airport, but stil retaiined its connections with the King Abdulaziz Air base of the Royal Saudi Air Force. In 1999 it went back to being a military only airport.
