English poet John Keats (1795-1821) came to live in 1818, staying here for just 17 months before travelling to Italy where he died. Actress Eliza Jane Chester, favourite of King George IV, lived here and made adaptations in 1838. Displays the Keats library of Sir Charles Dilke. Heavily influenced by Shakespeare and Milton, Keats became one of the principal poets of the English Romantic movement along with Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley.
