Clark Associated Artists American 1883–85 This fabric featuring scallop shells interlaced with seaweed is among the few patterns produced by textile designer Candace Wheeler’s firm, Associated Artists, that can be attributed to a specific artist. Ida F. Clark began her career as an embroiderer for Wheeler’s earlier partnership with Louis C. Tiffany but soon became one of the chief designers at Associated Artists. According to the press, she created 'the more conventional designing done by the house.'
