Attempt to Shoot the King Man Arrested: H. M. the King about to enter Hyde Park to present the new Colours this morning. An attempt on the King's life was made as he was leaving Hyde Park, London, W., to-day after presenting new Colours to several battalions of Guards Regiments. When the King was about 10 yards beyond the arch in Constitution Hill a man pointed an automatic pistol at his Majesty and pulled the trigger. The pistol, however, did not explode. A mounted policeman flung himself from his horse and with the assistance of a number of spectators overpowered the man. July 16, 1936.
