1960s, All Souls church at Langham Place, Marylebone. On the left of the picture, Broadcasting House, headquarters of the BBC in London. With its distinctive spired circular vestibule, the church was built in the Regency style in 1824 from a design by John Nash. Behind the church, modern office blocks of the era, certainly not in any recognised architectural style, but a standard rectangular shape and built of pre-cast concrete panels with extensive windows. So callled 'modernism' in style, this dull building design was repeated all over London in the 1960s, being cheap and quick to build.
