Pineapple harvesting, Beerburrum, 1957. The State Farm at Beerburrum was initially set up as a training farm for soldier settlers taking up blocks in the nearby soldier settlement. Developed on the western side of the railway, the 610 acre farm was where returned soldiers received instruction in farming and fruit growing to aid their transition on to the land. The returned soldiers would have been instrumental in producing the first crop of pineapples.
