A Highland Express Boeing 747 at Prestwick Airport, Glasgow, Scotland, UK in 1987. The airline was formed by Randolph Fields. The Highland Express fleet consisted of just one aircraft, which was Boeing 747-100. The transatlantic service began in 1987 and consisted of flights from Stansted or Birmingham to Newark, New York via Prestwick. Highland Express was the first scheduled low-cost carrier from Prestwick, Stansted and Birmingham. However, passenger numbers did not materialise.
