The stern of the ship shows its base as ‘Liverpool’ – at other times this was replaced by the port of ‘Southampton’. The ship was operated by Cunard Line. Along with Queen Mary, she provided weekly luxury liner service between Southampton, UK and New York, USA. She was launched on in 1938 by John Brown and Company at Clydebank, Scotland and named in honour of Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mother). It was the largest passenger liner ever built at that time.
