1904 - One of the Gamecock trawler fleet from Hull after shelling by a Russian ship, suspecting it to be a Japanese torpedo boat Variously known as the Dogger Bank incident or the Gamecock Incident , the trawler fleet from Hull on the north eastern coastline of Britain were fired on by warships of Russia’s Baltic Fleet, after being mistaken for Japanese torpedo boats. The organised mass fishing fleet consisted of 49 steam trawlers, 6 carriers and a dedicated hospital ship. Carrier ships ferried the catch to market whilst the fleet stayed in their fishing area.
