Barbed wire acts as one of barriers used by the Khmer Rouge in what is now the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Once a secondary school, Tuol Sway Pray High School, from 1976-1979 it became Security Prison 21 (S-21). Composed of several buildings, the campus became an internment camp where an estimated 20,000 persons were imprisoned, tortured, and died. Enclosed in electrified barbed wire, the former school was uncovered by the conquering Vietnamese Army. Out of the over 20,000 prisoners, there were 12 known survivors. The school is now the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.
