An Italian archer's sallet, Milan(?), middle of the 15th century One-piece hammered skull with a semicircular face cutout and a slightly flared edge. The perimeter with holes for the lining. The armourer's mark struck on the interior of the neck-guard. Cleaned excavation find, the skull with scattered corrosion holes. Height 19.5 cm. A simply fashioned enlisted man's helmet, whose markings can presumably be associated with a Milanese armourer. An early barbute with nearly identical mark is in the collection of Royal Armouries.
