Almeria, Spain : A speeding passenger train, consisting of locomotive, eight passenger cars, two freight vans and a guard's van, and with a total weight of two hundred and three tons, are blown off the track for a sequence in the film Lawrence of Arabia, now on location in Spain. Ten pounds of guncotton and ten pound of gunpowder were used to set the blast that piled up the train. Five motion picture cameras, three of them sand bagged bunkers, filmed the one shot only sequence. The train used in the shot was purchased from Spanish Railways. 18 JUNE 1962 Stock Photo

This is the 200BC Temple of Horus the Falcon God, located midway between Luxor and Aswan on the River Nile and the city of Edfu famed for its huge pylons, finely decorated columns, cartouche hieroglyphs story telling wall panels, and fine artwork on its ceilings. The temple was fortunate that the majority of it was covered by wind blown sand thus preserving the temple from the elements for centuries. Stock Photo

DESERT STRIP OP MOLOKAI 43 dunes and linear ridges and to very subordinate quantities which lodge against and around occasional obstructions. At the south- west end of the strip there are extensive deposits of sand filling the heads of some of the smaller gulches and banked over the windward wall of Kakaako Gulch. At present this deep gulch constitutes an obstacle which the sand does not pass in appreciable amounts and no evidence was seen by the writer that it has been extensively blown to the far side at any time in the past. /o Stock Photo
