The Seamew shows its paces. First public flight of the anti-submarine aircraft. Britain's new anti-submarine aircraft 'The Seamew' made its first public flight at Belfast today. It can operate from escort and merchant aircraft carriers, and problems of NATO countries were specifically considered by Short's design team when the Seamew was conceived. The objective of the Seamew is to provide a cheap, simple, and rugged aircraft which can be produced easily and, at the same time, meet satisfactorily all the operational requirements of the Navy.
