Oslo 19540213-14. Landscape between Norway and Soviet at Bislett Stadium. The Soviet Union won its largest international skating victory in the international. This time, the Russians won at all four distances, both individually and overall. The conditions at Bislett were far from ideal. The ice was bad and destroyed several of the runners' skates. One of the reasons was that the audience threw money, debris and fast on the ice. 27,000 spectators were present at the two days the championship lasted even in the biting cold. Photo: Sverre A.
