A 19th Century view of Allington Castle, a stone-built moated castle in Allington, near Maidstone, Kent. It was the birthplace in 1503 of the English lyrical poet Sir Thomas Wyatt and his son the rebel leader Thomas Wyatt in 1521. The young Wyatt supported Lady Jane Grey as Queen, but in 1554 forfeited the castle after his unsuccessful rebellion against Queen Mary.
