ADVERT Premier Vinolia Soap .1896. This oval shaped soap sold for 4d (four pence) a bar. It was known as 'The soap of the Titanic because the brand was supplied on the vessel on its maiden voyage. It was branded as a a 'toilet soap' meaning it was for personal use (as opposed to washing soaps), Originally a British company called the Vinolia Co Ltd, it also made baby powder, face powder, perfumes and shaving soap. William Lever bought the company in 1906. Today. the brand name is owned by Unilever. It was branded as a a 'toilet soap' meaning it was for personal use (as opposed to washing soaps), Originally a British company called the Vinolia Co Ltd, it also made baby powder, face powder, perfumes and shaving soap. William Lever bought the company in 1906. Today. the brand name is owned by Unilever.
