Apr. 04, 1964 - U.S. Ambassador Recovering From Knife Attack: The American Ambassador to Japan, Edwin O Reischauer, who was stabbed in the thigh by a Japanese youth as he was leaving the American Embassy in Tokyo on March24th, has recovered sufficiently to leave hospital this week., as he is now able to walk around his room. The 19-year-old Ambassador because of reforms carried out by the U.S. Occupational forces in Japan which limited educational and job opportunities for persons with bad eyesight, and he is myoptic, he suffered as a consequence.
