It was invented in Europe by Pompeo Targone in 1580, a man who was greatly involved in the Siege of La Rochelle during the Huguenot wars. It was featured in the Chinese book Qiqi Tushuo of 1627, which was a dual work of Johann Schreck and Wang Zheng. 'The Tale of Lancelot and the Four Queens' published March 3,1940 in the American Weekly Sunday magazine painted by Edmund Dulac. When Sir Launcelot was young he needed adventures, and every so often he went out to see what he could find. On the day we now speak of he took with him his nephew, Sir Lionel, who was still younger, and together they rode until they came to a wood, about noon. Then, for a whim, Sir Launcelot would rather have a nap than an adventure, and straightaway, he descended from his horse and stretched himself under an apple tree. “Lionel,” said he,”call me if anyone comes.” Stock Photohttps://www.alamy.com/image-license-details/?v=1https://www.alamy.com/the-tale-of-lancelot-and-the-four-queens-published-march-31940-in-the-american-weekly-sunday-magazine-painted-by-edmund-dulac-when-sir-launcelot-was-young-he-needed-adventures-and-every-so-often-he-went-out-to-see-what-he-could-find-on-the-day-we-now-speak-of-he-took-with-him-his-nephew-sir-lionel-who-was-still-younger-and-together-they-rode-until-they-came-to-a-wood-about-noon-then-for-a-whim-sir-launcelot-would-rather-have-a-nap-than-an-adventure-and-straightaway-he-descended-from-his-horse-and-stretched-himself-under-an-apple-tree-lionel-said-hecall-me-if-anyone-comes-image475185514.html
