Thatof the Chief Justices Sir Edward Montagu, 1557, atWeekley; Sir Christopher Yelverton, 1612, and his son, 44 Memorials of Old Northamptonshire. Sir Henry Yelverton, 1629, at Easton Mauduit, are simi-larly habited, the two latter effigies being very like theexisting painted portraits. The white marble figure ofSir Thomas Crewe, 1633, Kings Sergeant, and Speakerof the Commons, at Steane, is a careful portrait and,together with that of Temperance, his wife, are from thehand of Nicholas Stone.
