Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, UK. 5th September, 2023. The Grade I listed mansion house and former hotel at Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire. The lease of Stoke Park was sold in 2021 to Reliance Industries Ltd, controlled by Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani. Golf, gym and social members of the affluent country club controversially had their memberships terminated when it was sold to Ambani for £57m by the King family. Although renovations are taking place at Stoke Park, locals are said to be saddened that Stoke Park has not been reopened as a country club since the sale. Buckinghamshire Council own the freehold, and are reported to be concerned over possible alleged unauthorised changes to the use of Stoke Park which must be used as commercial premises and not as a private residence, something that Ambani's representatives have denied. Stoke Park has been the setting for some famous films including Bridget Jones Diary, Goldfinger, Tomorrow Never Dies, Wimbledon and Layer Cake. Credit: Maureen McLean/Alamy Live News
