Tamil Hindu devotees attach large clay idols of Lord Ganesha (Lord Ganesh) to vehicles before journeying from the Ganesh (Pillaiyar) temple to the ocean during the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi in the town of Palani (Pazhani) in Tamil Nadu, India. Once at the ocean prayers will take place before the immersion of the idols into the ocean. Ganesh Chaturthi (also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi) is a Hindu festival celebrating the arrival of Ganesh to earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother Goddess Parvati.
