Thailand: View of Ban Khao Daeng and the surrounding countryside from the Khao Daeng viewpoint, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. Khao Sam Roi Yot became Thailand’s first coastal National Park in 1996. It covers an area of approximately 100 square kilometres (40 square miles) including steep limestone mountains riddled in places with caves, marshes, mangrove swamps, sandy beaches and shallow sea waters along the coast. The name sam roi yot means ‘three hundred peaks’ and this refers directly to the many limestone outcrops and peaks that characterise the park.
