He wasborn and raised at Kutztown, and his fam-ily, of French Huguenot descent, is one of the oldest and best known in the county.Mr. Levan received his education in thepublic schools of his native town and atthe Keystone State Normal School. After leaving school he was engaged inbusiness for some time in Reading and latercarried on a successful business in NewYork. He afterwards sold out and took acourse in one of New Yorks best trainingschools. Mr, Levan has a wide reputationas an elocutionist. A number of years agohe filled various engagements in that capa-city and frequently took part in amateurperformances of local theatrical companiesin his native town and Reading.
