The ceremonial house at Waitangi is called the Whare Rūnanga. It is a significant structure located within the Waitangi Treaty Grounds in New Zealand. The Whare Rūnanga serves as a symbol of partnership and unity between Māori and the British Crown. The Whare Rūnanga is a traditional Māori meeting house built in the style of a carved wharenui (large house). It was constructed in 1940 to commemorate the centenary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi
