'The Conwy Tubular Bridge on the Chester & Holyhead Railway', North Wales, 1852. This bridge was designed by Robert Stephenson to carry the Chester and Holyhead Railway across the River at Conwy. Like Stephenson's more famous Britannia Tubular Bridge over the Menai Straits, the Conwy Tubular Bridge was of box girder construction. The Chester and Holyhead Railway terminated at Holyhead on the Isle of Anglesey, which became a major port for travellers to Ireland. From The British Gazeteer. (London, 1852).
