The Dutch artist Rembrandt (1606-1669) (full name-Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker, and draughtsman and of the Dutch School of Amsterdam. This painting by him, known as The Company of Francis Banning Cocq or most often called Nightwatch is in the Royal Museum in Amsterdam. It is in reality a day scene although it is known to most people as the "Night Watch" - owing to the mass of dirt that had collected upon it. An innovative and prolific master in three media, Rembrandt is generally considered one of the greatest visual artists in the history of art.
