The fast train to operate between London and Leeds, the new streamlined West Riding Limited made a trial run from King's Cross to Leeds, a non-stop 185 miles run in which it was time to average 68 miles an hour with top speed in the region of 75. The train going through Retford, Nottingham on its trial run. 24 September 1937
