The stable block and adjacent walls of the old walled kitchen garden are all that remains of the mansion of Kempshott Park. Kempshott Park was a Georgian mansion built in 1770. In 1789, it was leased by the Prince Regent as a country retreat. He retained the lease for six years. In 1800, Jane Austen attended a New Year's Ball at Kempshott hosted by its new resident, Lord Dorchester. Sadly, the house was demolished in 1965 to make way for the M3 motorway. Only the coach house and walls of the kitchen garden remain. The coach house is now used as a regional office by NFU Mutual.
